For one afternoon, a fine-dine room became a gallery. Fresh works by Shampa Sircar Das hung between fringed lamps, velvet chairs and banana leaves.
No white walls. Each canvas found its place against the restaurant's own furniture: above consoles, along banquettes, on easels between the tables.
Peacock, deer, swan and twin faces. An entirely new collection, made after the Mumbai run, keeping the same soulful palette of sacred geometry and organic motifs.
An art walk with Shampa Sircar Das had put Pune audience in awe. The stories and conversations echoed in the space. Mid-conversation the artist added a lotus to the bronze Nandi sculpture, using a Lucia side plate as her palette.
Menus and standees designed for the afternoon, each arched card framing a detail from the paintings.
After a Mumbai run where most works found collectors, KIAN Foundation brought bhūmi home to Pune. The Lucia preview opened the way for the exhibition at KIAN Foundation, The Art Gallery, Baner, 10 to 17 April 2025.
